GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT VISAS

Foreigners intending to travel to Turkey for various reasons should examine the visa regime applied by our country before their travels. The inquiry page regarding the visa regime for countries and types can be accessed at  www.mfa.gov.tr.

Visa regime for visits made for educational purposes is different from tourist travel or business meeting visas. Applications for all types of work and education visas can be made electronically. However, applicants must apply in person to the relevant diplomatic missions.

Education visa: Granted to foreigners who wish to come to Turkey for education, training, internship, courses, student exchange programs, or Turkish language courses.

Work visa: Granted to foreigners covered by Article 55 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Work Permits of Foreigners published in the Official Gazette dated 29/8/2003, as well as foreigners who do not fall under this scope and wish to come for work purposes.

The visa regime applied by Turkey to citizens of other countries varies from country to country according to the principle of reciprocity.

1. To find out if you are eligible for an e-visa, visit https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/info/who-is-eligible-for-e-visa/.

2. If you are not eligible for an e-visa, you need to schedule a visa appointment through the embassy/consulate. To find the nearest Turkish Embassy/Consulate, visit https://www.mfa.gov.tr/turkish-representations.en.mfa. To create a pre-application or schedule a visa appointment, visit https://www.konsolosluk.gov.tr/.

3. If you are a citizen of one of the countries listed at https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/info/i-do-not-want-to-apply-for-an-e-visa-can-i-get-a-visa-on-arrival/ and meet the required criteria, you can obtain a visa upon arrival.

4. Countries whose citizens can enter Turkey with their national identity cards under the "European Agreement on Regulations Governing the Movement of Persons Between Member States of the Council of Europe" are listed at https://www.mfa.gov.tr/vatandaslarinin-ulusal-kimlik-belgeleri-ile-ulkemize-girebilecegi-ulkelere-iliskin-liste.tr.mfa. If you are coming from one of the countries listed, you do not need to apply for a visa.
